About This Project

For over 100 years, the Hawthorne Volunteer Fire Department has served the Hawthorne community with pride and dedication.  The department is an all volunteer organization with dedicated men and women ready to respond to any emergency:

  • 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year
  • All times of the day and night
  • In all types of weather

They leave their jobs and their families at a moment’s notice, ready to place their lives in harms way to protect your lives and property.  Tens of thousands of man hours each year are placed into:

  • Responses to your emergencies
  • Training and drills
  • Developing prevention and education programs
  • Participating in community events


Overview: The Fire Department Borough Clerk is entrusted with numerous and diverse duties. Day to day financial management of over $200k budget. Internal accounting and development of the annual Fire Department budgets. Management and administration duties for over 120 firefighters and various apparatuses (3 Engines, Tower, Rescue, Vehicles, Boat). Marketing on various platforms; website, social media and contact for the press.


Deliverables: Various marketing and communications that include the department website, FaceBook, brochures, merchandise, events planning and collateral, YouTube, banners, monthly emails, t-shirt designs, stickers and videos.




Skills: Visual Design, Art Direction, Photography, Video Production.Adobe InDesign CC, Adobe After Effects CC, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

Strong sense of graphic design, communications, marketing, interpersonal and communication skills. Worked with all levels of the organization, was able to advise internal partners and act as a consultant when needed.
